If they are they’re worth looking in to. I’ve had my cats insured with them since they were kittens and never had to claim until last year. There was no problem in getting monies back etc.
They also cover for whole of life too instead of up to 10 years like a lot of companies do. Good job really as Cozy! was 10 when he became ill. It’s an on going illness for him too and they have never been a problem in the continuing claims that we send in. They also paid towards special diet food for a while too which helped.
They do vary and it’s best too see what you want, plus which ones your vets accept. MY vet will do all the paperwork involving claims and the claim goes to them (you pay the excess up front) but he will only do this with two company’s. Some will only let you claim so much for illness type, some lessen the cover for animals over a certain age. Some have a lower excess fee. Others will include things like prescription food if needed.
You need to shop around and see whats best for your pet, plus what your vet recommends. Plus what your personal requirements are. (if your expected to pay the whole bill then claim back this doesn’t help if you don’t have the cash!
I think Trupanion is a great company. They process and payout the claims really fast (usually within a couple of days) and they cover 90% of the bill.
They insure the pet for life (no age limit) but it has to be enrolled by age 14.
I am with Trupanion and I chose them because they don’t limit you like most companies. What sold me was that they don’t have claim limits, so it doesn’t matter how big the bill is. AND they don’t have annual limits, so if a bunch of expenses happen in one year, they will all be covered.
Good luck with your search!
Are PetPlan available where you live?
